AUG 5
The next Arlington meeting for 2026 will be held on Wednesday, August 5, at our new meeting place (see below).
The program will be presented by MCSC Member Skip Ely, on A Survey of U.S. Fractional Stamps. There will be a handout to supplement the presentation.
APS Books will be available at the meeting, courtesy of Dave Stockbridge. Club books will also be available.
Scott Catalogs - Rich Hildebrandt will have the Scott catalogs 2027 Vol 1 A & B, and the 2024 U.S. Specialized if anyone wants to check them out. If anyone would like some other catalog, please contact Skip or Rich promptly so we have time to retrieve them.
NOTE: Arlington Auction, September 2 - lots(or the cover sheets for bulky and heavy items) should be turned in at the August meeting. This allows time to organize and advertise the lots ahead of the September meeting. As usual, you can just give Skip a list of the lots you will bring, but then you will have to number and cut the cover sheet for the sold lots. Each member may submit up to ten items. Please keep large, heavy, and bulky items in your possession until auction night. Skip will accept items at the August meetings (Arlington and Flower Mound) that are attached to one auction bid sheet, or will fit in a manila folder. The deadline for submitting auction lots is August 19.
NOTE: Auction Sheets - download auction sheets here.
NOTE: Granbury Auction, September 22 - Dave Stockbridge provides the following guidance: Auction items need to be provided to me by September 2nd so I can prepare a listing of sale items. The listing will be distributed to all club members and posted for others. Your attendance is welcome. However, I accept absentee bidding prior to the auction date by email or phone. Items submitted for sale should be of moderate value, with a minimum bid of at least $1. All bidding will be done in whole dollar increments. Submissions are limited to no more than 5 items per member. Please let me know if you will be submitting items to aid me in planning the auction."
Election of Officers: If anyone would like to serve as an officer in the club, this is your chance to participate. President, Vice President (one for each chapter), Secretary, Treasurer, and Board of Directors (3) are all positions that need to be filled. You can let any of the current officers or board members know of your interest. Keep in mind, the club doesn’t exist without leadership and direction.
Library Club library items are available for checkout. View the list of MCSC Library Items. See Skip or Rick if interested in checking out an item or two.
Mystic catalogs are needed for the Beginners table at Expo. Skip Ely advises that they make excellent instructional guides for beginning collectors.
We will meet at our NEW official gathering place: the Trinity Unity Methodist Church, 1200 West Green Oaks Blvd. Our meeting room will be 201 (the Koinonia room, upstairs). The meeting will begin at 6:30 P.M., and end at 8:30 P.M. We have to vacate the facility by 9:00 P.M.
Ordinarily when we have an in-person meeting, we also have a MEET'N'EAT at an area restaurant, prior to the meeting. The group usually gathers between 5:15 and 5:30 pm, and we try to finish by 6:45 pm.
MEET'N'EAT is at David’s BBQ, 2224 W. Park Row, Arlington, (817) 261-9998, beginning about 5:00 P.M.
