DEC 3
The next Arlington meeting for 2025 will be held on Wednesday, December 3.
The program will be our annual Christmas Party. David’s BBQ will provide meat, potato salad, beans, and cole slaw, while members are asked to bring dessert or another side. The doors open at 6:00 PM, with serving beginning about 6:30 PM. This will be followed by a short Expo Review, and then a gift exchange. For the EXPO Review, the objective is to share and document what went right, what needs improvement, and how we can best plan for EXPO 2026. Further details will be in the December newsletter, and in the Arlington meeting notice.
Gift Exchange: Everyone who attends the Christmas party (guests included, if they want to play) needs to bring a wrapped gift valued at about $10. Make it something someone else would like to receive, no junk please. If your item fits in an envelope, then place it in an envelope making sure the contents can’t be seen from the outside. For larger items please wrap or put in a decorative Christmas bag or box.
Annual Meeting: The Annual Meeting, which is normally held in November, has been postponed until the January meeting.Catalog Winner: Richard Kincaid is the winning bidder for both the Scott Catalogs Vol. 1-6 and the U.S. Specialized.
Dues are Due: Regular $12, Mailed Newsletter $22, Additional household members $6, Donor member $25. A Regular membership includes an emailed newsletter. If mailing your dues payment, please use the January newsletter form. Members with a continuous membership of 25 years or more get free dues.
Missing Scott Catalogs: we are missing the 2023 1B Scott catalog. There are no sign out cards for this volume. If you have it, please contact Rich Hildebrandt (richhilde@hotmail.com) or Skip Ely so we can get them ready for the mail auction in October.
Mystic catalogs are needed for the Beginners table at Expo. Skip Ely advises that they make excellent instructional guides for beginning collectors.
We will meet at our official gathering place: Bob Duncan Community Center in Arlington, located at 2800 South Center Street, 76014, in Vandergriff Park (MAPSCO 97A). The meeting will begin about 7:15 pm, since the Christmas Dinner will likely cause some delay. But the room will be open at 6:00 pm for visiting and trading.
Ordinarily when we have an in-person meeting, we also have a MEET'N'EAT at an area restaurant, prior to the meeting. The group usually gathers between 5:15 and 5:30 pm, and we try to finish by 6:45 pm.
MEET'N'EAT is replaced this month by our annual Christmas Party, to be held December 3 at our regular meeting place - the Bob Duncan Community Center. Attendees will start gathering around 6pm, and begin eating around 6:30pm.
