This page will be used to communicate recent changes to the club Website, in an attempt to make your visit more productive and rewarding. Please contact the Webmaster at jasdmyers@earthlink.net if you think any of the described features is not working correctly on your computer. If you do contact the Webmaster, it would be very helpful if you included information on the platform and browser you are using (eg., Windows XP, with Netscape 7.0 browser, or Windows 98 SE, with Internet Explorer 6.0, etc.).
The MCSC Website is undergoing a long overdue upgrade. This is being done in order to keep up with the changes in Web standards and to take advantage of the increased control over the appearance of a Website that is now possible.
The TechnobabbleThe MCSC Website is being upgraded in order to keep up with the changes in Web standards (as dictated by the World Wide Web Consortium, or"W3C") and to take advantage of the increased control over the appearance of a Website that is now possible through the use the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) technology. This upgrade should help avoid the costly changes that will eventually be needed when deprecated HTML tags and attributes are no longer supported by newer browsers.
The upgrade will be implemented as follows: |
In Plain Talk[To be added.]
|
So far, these changes have not been fully implemented on any page within the MCSC site. However, they have been partially implemented on the Home page, so you can get a preview of sorts there.
You will see that Arial is now the chosen font. (If you don't have Arial it will default to Helvetica, and if you don't have Helvetica it will default to the sans-serif font corresponding to your browsers default sans-serif font.) General text font size will correspond to the size of an "m" (1em) on your selected font style. This combination should be easier to read, an important consideration for aging eyes.
If you have any questions about these changes, or feel that they
might be related to a problem you are having in viewing the MCSC
Website, or if you just want to comment in general, please contact
Webmaster, MCSC.
Several changes have been made to the Home page. Perhaps
the biggest improvement is found in the upper right portion of
the page. Here you will find a series of "MCSC Quick Info Links" that will take you directly to a topic of interest. Currently, there are 8 of these links:
Clicking on one of these links should open a new window in your browser for that topic. When you close this window, you should be returned to the Home page.
Additional text and pictures have been added for EXPO 2004 and the MCSC Christmas Party, as well as links to additional pictures. If you should go to either of the new sets of pictures, you will notice that each picture has a "thumbnail" (small picture) and a numeral associated with it. The thumbnail will take you to the "larger" version of the picture (slower download), whereas the numeral will take you to the "smaller" version (faster download). Once you have viewed a picture, close its' window and you should return to the selection page. Unless you have broadband, you may want to try the smaller version; you can always go back and select the larger picture later if you wish. Depending on modem speed and other factors, even the smaller pictures may take a while to download.
Also on the Home page, in the lower left section, the 2004 Sponsor-Member List, 2004 New-Member List and 2004 Expo Donor List (partial) have been moved to separate pages. The corresponding 2005 data will be posted as it becomes available. Links are provided to the 2004 lists should you wish to see them. Also the list of 2005-6 Officers can be found in the lower right part of the page.
On the Resources page, Board of Director minutes have been added, and will continue to be posted as they become available.
The StampShow page has been revamped to reflect EXPO 2005. A link is provided to the EXPO 2004 page should you wish to visit it.
Don't forget the Philatelic Quiz on the Home page. Questions relate to items covered in the News section. Click on the "?" at the end of the question to be taken to the article that answers the question. To return to the quiz section, click on the left (back) arrow - do not close the page in this case, unless you want to exit the site.
Also, an overview of the current edition of our award-winning newsletter is carried on the Home page, with a link to the full-graphics version. There is also a link for getting access of back-issues of the newsletter.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or problems, regarding the site, please contact the Webmaster at jasdmyers@earthlink.net. Meanwhile, thank you for your support of this Website.
